Explore the Spiritual Essence of Japanese Buddhism on a Koyasan Day Trip

Embark on a day trip to Koyasan, a revered mountain established by Kobo Daishi (Kukai) during the early Heian period and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Along with Mount Osore and Mount Hiei, it stands as one of Japan’s three pivotal spiritual hubs, providing a tranquil mountain setting and a profound link to Japanese religious history.

During spring, Koyasan becomes adorned with cherry blossoms, including Somei Yoshino, weeping cherry trees, and late-blooming types, typically visible until around Golden Week. Due to its elevation, the cherry blossom season in this area arrives later compared to the lowlands.

A knowledgeable guide will escort you through Okunoin, Koyasan's most sacred site and the burial place of Kobo Daishi. Stroll along the atmospheric 2-kilometer pathway flanked by ancient cedar trees, immersing yourself in the mystical aura of this esteemed pilgrimage route. An earphone guide system is provided to ensure clear communication of the guide’s insights.

Savor a delightful local Koyasan-style lunch that features regional specialties prepared with attention to detail. Following lunch, you will have some free time to wander around Kongobuji Temple, the principal temple of the Shingon sect, and Danjo Garan, one of Koyasan’s key sacred areas. Notable features include the vibrant vermilion Konpon Daito Pagoda and the Kondo Hall, both significant symbols of Koyasan’s spiritual legacy.

Experience comfort aboard a specially designed luxury coach equipped with a toilet and spacious seating, ensuring a pleasant and enjoyable journey throughout the day.
