About Mt. Koya
Founded by the monk Kobo Daishi at the start of the Heian period, Mt. Koya serves as the sacred hub for Shingon Esoteric Buddhism. Alongside Mt. Osore in Aomori and Mt. Hiei in Shiga, it is recognized as one of Japan's three most sacred spiritual locations.
