[Tateyama to Ogizawa: Alpine Route Traverse]

  • The Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route is a globally recognized mountain trail that traverses the Northern Alps, featuring peaks that exceed 3,000 meters. This route spans 37.2 km with a maximum elevation change of 1,975 meters and meanders through the Chubu Sangaku National Park. Experience the breathtaking natural landscapes of Tateyama Kurobe while transferring among different modes of transportation from Tateyama Station to Ogizawa Station, stopping at picturesque locations along the way.
  • Japan’s Longest Single-Span Ropeway - The Tateyama Ropeway links Daikanbo and Kurobedaira without any supporting pillars in between, aimed at maintaining the visual integrity of the area. Often referred to as a “moving observatory,” it provides stunning 360-degree views. Through its expansive windows, take in the dramatic slopes of Daikanbo to the west and the Ushiro-Tateyama mountain range to the east.
  • Kurobe Dam – A Truly Impressive Scale - Recognized as one of Japan’s largest constructions, Kurobe Dam towers at 186 meters, making it the tallest in the country. This season, prior to the summer water discharge, the site is less congested, allowing guests to appreciate the remaining snow and tranquil surroundings at a leisurely pace.

  • UNESCO World Heritage Shirakawa-go Gassho-zukuri village - The Shirakawa-go village, designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site, features 114 traditional gassho-zukuri houses characterized by steep thatched roofs, nestled amid fields and agricultural land. Its unadorned yet beautiful scenery is often referred to as the “original landscape of Japan,” enchanting visitors globally. Stroll through this ageless environment while being embraced by its nostalgic rural charm.
  • Stroll through the atmospheric old town of Takayama, rich in traditional charm - Takayama’s Old Town is an exceptionally preserved district from the Edo period, historically known as a castle and merchant town. With its lattice-fronted homes, clear waterways, and traditional sake breweries, the area exudes a nostalgic ambiance that transports you back in time.
