An "Ujiko" refers to a community member dedicated to the protection and support of their local shrine. In this unique experience, you will immerse yourself in the role of a local supporter, assist in caring for the shrine, and forge a deep connection with the essence of Japanese spirituality.

What to Expect

• Step into the Ritual: Don Samue (traditional work attire) and Setta (sandals), and undergo a formal Shinto ritual purification to commence your experience.
• Go Behind the Scenes: Collaborate with locals in the maintenance of the shrine, which includes cleaning sacred areas typically off-limits to the public and gathering coin offerings.
• Special Worship & Etiquette: Walk along the freshly cleaned path for a unique prayer service. Additionally, you will receive direct instruction on shrine etiquette from a Shinto priest.
• Create a Memory: Return to the shrine office to design your own personalized Goshuin (sacred stamp log).
• The Naorai Finale: Conclude your day with a Naorai (sacred feast) where you can savor traditional Japanese sweets and sacred offerings while conversing with local Ujiko members.

※Optional Activity: Create your own traditional wind chime using sacred hemp (Asa).

• Age Requirements: Participants must be 13 years or older. (Participants under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.)
• The time schedule is approximate and subject to slight changes depending on the conditions of the day.
• Food Allergies: If you have any food allergies, please let us know when making your booking.
• Parking: Please use the parking lot on the east side of "Saiku Heian-no-Mori."

• Weather Policy: In case of cancellation due to severe weather (such as heavy rain or strong winds), a decision will be made based on the 5:00 PM weather forecast on the previous day. We will contact the group representative.

• Clothing & What to Bring: Please wear comfortable clothes that you don't mind getting dirty, and bring a drink and a towel.
• Winter Notice: It can get very cold in winter, so please bring warm layers.
