Your Experience

Your adventure starts with a concise overview of the history and philosophy behind the Japanese tea ceremony. A skilled tea master will perform a demonstration, allowing you to witness the careful and meditative actions involved in crafting the ideal bowl of matcha. After the demonstration, you will enjoy high-quality tea paired with a seasonal sweet delicacy.

Then, it’s your opportunity to take on the role of the practitioner. With the support of your instructor, you will use a traditional bamboo whisk (chasen) to create your own bowl of matcha. This experience emphasizes mindfulness and hospitality, making it ideal for families, couples, and solo travelers seeking a meaningful yet accessible cultural engagement with Kyoto.

Highlights

  • Casual & Accessible: Experience authenticity in your regular attire—there's no need for kimono or formal "seiza" seating.
  • The "Two-Bowl" Journey: Enjoy a bowl of expertly prepared tea, and then discover how to whisk your own second bowl of high-quality matcha.
