Kumamoto Castle and Aso Volcano Day Tour
Discover Japan's most famous natural and historical beauties with Kumamoto Castle and the Aso Volcano Crater.
A detailed description for this day is coming soon. The following stops will be visited:
Kumamoto Castle, one of Japan's three most famous castles, was built by Kiyomasa Kato under the command of Hideyoshi Toyotomi and holds a significant place in the hearts of the Japanese people. The castle is also known as "Ginkgo Castle" due to the large ginkgo trees within its grounds.
Mount Aso Nakadake Crater, located at the center of Kyushu's largest volcanic group, is one of the few active volcanoes in the world that can be closely monitored. The crater has a diameter of approximately 400 meters and a depth of 130 meters. The surrounding area of the crater offers an impressive view with molten rock landscapes, and white smoke often rises. Visitors can reach near the crater via the Aso Park road or by cable car. Inside the caldera, there is a mysterious emerald green acidic pool with temperatures typically around 50-60°C.
