Omagari Fireworks Festival

Experience over a century of tradition at the Omagari Fireworks Festival — recognized as Japan’s premier fireworks competition. Originating in 1910 during a local shrine festival in Daisen City, Akita Prefecture, this event has evolved into one of the Three Great Fireworks Festivals in Japan. Currently, it serves as the venue for the National Fireworks Competition, where the finest pyrotechnic artists from all over Japan come together to vie for esteemed accolades, including the Prime Minister’s Prize.

This annual festival occurs on the last Saturday of August and draws in excess of 700,000 attendees. It consists of two segments:

  • Daytime fireworks, celebrated for their vibrant smoke effects and creative shapes.
  • Nighttime fireworks, featuring traditional shell fireworks, coordinated musical displays, and stunning starmine performances.

This package allows you to fully immerse yourself in the experience with a guaranteed reserved seat in a viewing area. You have the option to travel to Omagari Station independently or utilize our round-trip bus service from Sendai Station.

Anticipate a mesmerizing display of artistic fireworks illuminating the night sky, showcasing exceptional creativity and skill. Savor the festive atmosphere, complete with food stalls, local delicacies, and the warm welcome of Akita's residents.
