Mt. Daisen Beech Forest, Ogamiyama Shrine Okumiya, and Daisen-ji Temple

At the base of Mt. Daisen—a prominent mountain in Tottori Prefecture—rests one of Japan’s most expansive ancient beech forests. A stroll through the nature-filled path leads to Daisen-ji Temple, which thrived as a hub of mountain worship, and to Ogamiyama Shrine Okumiya (Inner Shrine), known for having Japan’s longest stone-paved approach; this location exudes a mystical spiritual energy.

Amida-do Hall (Zazen Meditation Experience)

This ancient hall is the oldest existing structure at Daisen-ji Temple and is recognized as a National Important Cultural Property. Engaging in *zazen* (seated meditation) within the tranquil, wooden environment provides a unique chance to disconnect from the chaos of everyday life and focus your thoughts inward.

Shukubo Kansho-in Sanrakuso (Shojin Ryori / Buddhist Vegetarian Cuisine)

With a rich history as a temple lodging (*shukubo*) for Daisen-ji, this inn is celebrated for its *shojin ryori*—Buddhist vegetarian cuisine—that reflects the essence of the seasonal harvest, showcasing local wild mountain vegetables and sesame tofu. These dishes, beautiful in presentation and delightful in taste, gently nourish both the body and the spirit.
