・A Zen experience guided by a priest who is fluent in English

The chief priest of Ichibata Yakushi speaks English fluently. Following a prayer in the main hall, he will provide insights into the history of Ichibata Yakushi and lead you through the temple grounds. Nestled on the mountainside of Mt. Ichibata, the temple grounds include the Kannon hall, which boasts a stunning view of Lake Shinji. Descending the stone steps from there, you will arrive at the lecture hall to experience Zazen. The main hall and Shoin, located on the same premises, feature a teahouse and a garden that were once visited by Emperor Showa. Typically off-limits to the public, this tour provides you with a unique opportunity to explore the garden and tea room as a special highlight.

・A magnificent view from the temple grounds

Perched at the southern base of Mt. Ichibata, Ichibata Yakushi stands at an elevation of 200m, offering breathtaking views over Lake Shinji. The lake can be glimpsed through the cedar trees along the approach to the temple, and on clear days, Mt. Daisen is visible beyond the lake from the temple grounds. In the Autumn of 2025, the Kannon Hall underwent repairs, including the installation of a large glass window on the east side that overlooks Lake Shinji, enabling visitors to partake in "sky meditation," "copying sutras," and "sand stepping". The Kannon Hall provides a sweeping view of the Izumo mythology setting.
